REFLECTING

This project describes a moment or experience between two countries, Brazil and the UK sharing their skills and art through the use of social media. This sounds like an easy, collaborative project but it was difficult to implement, mainly due to reasons like timezones, communal setups, deadlines and language barriers. Initially, both sides of the collaboration were too shy and reciprocating topics were difficult. We sent the works we produced in the first term which were films, illustrations and depended on the students in Brazil to choose the topic of their interests that they could elaborate and use as a basis to create a film.
After this process, being in touch was becoming hard because of the deadlines that the students in Brazil were trying to complete the project by.
To make things easier we began to send small introductions of ourselves through an Application known as slack. All the communication taken place had been recorded to make a short video on the collaboration and communication. This challenges the notion that art is subjected to localities and areas. We can look beyond our environment and space to discover and share ideas. The communication was the hardest challenge but this becomes an interesting piece of work itself. Recording these moments highlight the importance of group work and community. We learnt to develop a connectivity through our creativity and knowledge that as International students opened our minds to something new.
We have now begun to think of names for the project and trying our very best to stay in touch with the brazil students.
